Stretcher Bearers to the King

After waking early last night, I sensed the Holy Spirit telling me that we act like stretcher bearers when we bring the needs of each guest to the feet of Jesus. It is he who heals their wounds.
During the Gallipoli campaign of World War One, John Simpson Kirkpatrick, a stretcher bearer, used donkeys to carry wounded soldiers to safety, often under fire, becoming a legendary figure known as “Simpson and his donkey.”
Myths grew up around his brave exploits and many stretcher bearers copied his example, the first being Richard Alexander Henderson who used Simpson’s donkey Murphy after his death, and who was awarded a Military Medal for his exploits.
As we make changes to bring CPM fully up to date to meet the challenges of the 21st Century, we may find ourselves questioning why we are planning a new marketing strategy or freshening up our website design and content. Or why in the current year we are focussing on training to meet the needs of CPM’s future guests and raising money from our Gift Day to support it.
The motivation for me, and I hope for you too, is that we share a strong desire to be the best stretcher bearers we can be to the King of Kings, bringing to Jesus the needs of guests for him to heal in the same way he healed and continues to heal you and me.
