Ministry Training

Christian Prayer Ministries (CPM) provides development for individuals who want to be involved in leading or supporting prayer ministry appointments. Training is a structured, Spirit-led programme available to registered Ministry Members who feel called to grow and serve in prayer ministry.

It’s a broken world...

It's visible all around us: hearts longing for hope, healing, and truth. Prayer Ministry is quiet work, but vital work — bringing forgiveness, healing from hurts and controlling thoughts and behaviours, to bring restoration and Holy Spirit equipping for our lives here.

At CPM, we believe there is a growing need not only for prayer ministry, but for more men and women willing to be equipped for it.

Through Ministry Training, we seek to raise up those who will step into this calling with humility, compassion, and faithfulness.

Training Programme

Christian Prayer Ministries (CPM) offers a comprehensive prayer ministry training programme, will take 18 months to 2 years, based on you having 3 hours available per week, plus a couple of group discussion sessions or sessions with your mentor twice a month. This includes both learning materials and application practice. Progress may be over a shorter time if you can offer more availability.

You will have a heart for prayer and people and enjoy praying with others to see their freedom and growth.  This training programme is for either those inexperienced or experienced in prayer ministry or leadership. There will be a charge to cover the costs of CPM's training programme, though we would not wish for this to deter applicants so will discuss this during the interview process. Bursaries are available and sponsorships can also be explored. You will need to have a current Ministry Membership in addition to the training programme fee.

CPM use a biblical based model of healing and freedom, which has been titled ‘Circle of God’s Love’. It looks at healing of wounds and the freedom from impact of wrongdoing, controlling behaviours or spirits.

Ministry Training - Frequently-Asked Questions

  • CPM Ministry Training is a structured, Spirit-led pathway designed to equip Christians who sense a calling into prayer ministry. The training integrates theological grounding, spiritual formation, practical skill development, and supervised ministry experience, all within the life and accountability of Christian Prayer Ministries.

  • The training is for Christians who feel called to serve others through prayer ministry and who are willing to grow in maturity, humility, and discernment. It is not designed as a quick course, but as a formative journey for those seeking to minister safely, gently, and faithfully in partnership with the Holy Spirit.

  • Yes. All candidates for ministry training must first become Ministry Members of CPM. Membership ensures that trainees are part of the CPM community, share our values and safeguarding commitments, and are supported spiritually and pastorally throughout the training journey.

  • Training typically includes teaching days or weekends, observation of prayer ministry, supervised practice, mentoring, reflection, and ongoing assessment. The pathway is intentionally paced, recognising that growth in prayer ministry involves both skill development and inner formation.

  • Typically, you will be joined by two prayer ministers (one lead, and one support) who are trained, authorised, and supervised by CPM. Sometimes, a third 'backup' prayer minister will attend the PMA - this is ususally someone currently undergoing training with CPM.

  • Completion of training does not automatically guarantee a ministry role. Ongoing discernment, character, gifting, and suitability for ministry are continually prayerfully assessed. CPM seeks to release people into ministry only where there is clarity of calling, readiness, and alignment with our values and practices.

Called to Prayer Ministry?

If you sense God inviting you to grow, serve, and be equipped for prayer ministry, becoming a Ministry Member of CPM is the first step on that journey.

Membership places you within a safe, accountable community where formation, mentoring, and discernment are nurtured over time.

From here, you can explore Ministry Training at the right pace, with clarity, support, and prayerful guidance along the way.
